About Me

Quilter, Family Historian, and Dog Mom, Among Other Things

Hi! I’m excited that you’re here. Let me tell you a little about myself. I have been an avid quilter for nearly 10 years, and currently teach people how to make vintage quilt blocks through my business, My Grandmother’s Quilt. It’s a lot of fun!

I’m a dog mom, something I never thought I’d be. Cricket is a yellow Labrador Retriever overflowing with love. He’s a trained therapy dog and, pre-COVID, we visited a local long- and short-term care facility on a weekly basis. I’m blessed to work from home, and he is my constant companion. Life in the household definitely revolves around the dog!

In October 2003 I met my soulmate, Jim, and we got married the following May. He was a package deal, and came with three half-grown sons. Needless to say, my life went from boring to extremely interesting literally overnight! Jim is my port in the storm, my rock, the calm to my crazy. His favorite way to show affection is to tease me. He makes me laugh every day. I couldn’t ask for a better husband or life-partner.

Family history is my passion, and has been since I started more than 20 years ago. I love the research, digging through the records, searching for clues, and taking all the pieces of the puzzle, putting them together, and discovering what emerges. In some cases, the picture for a person is very straightforward. In other cases, it’s constantly evolving. New records negate previous assumptions. I love it!
